According to Garcia y Garcia, due to the 1943 bombing, also destroyed were the plaster casts of the tree-roots from the garden.

According to Jashemski, cavities in the soil along the channel showed that there had been a long arboured passageway on each side of it.
Paralleling the vine-covered passageways were rows of root cavities.
Spinazzola gave no measurements, but he reported that the cavities nearest the side walls were those of the roots of large shade trees.
Next came rows of smaller trees or shrubs.
