VII.15.2 Pompeii. May 2018. Doorways to rooms on west side of atrium.
On the extreme left are two doorways connecting to the atrium of VII.15.1, and on the right is a doorway to a cubiculum.
Seen on the pilaster, to the left, would have been “Summer”.
On the centre pilaster, but now completely devoid of plaster, would have been “Autumn”.

According to PPM -
“Already in the excavation reports it was stated that one of the figures of the Seasons was completely destroyed, in particular “Autumn” was missing, which would have to have been found on the north side of the west wall between the doorways to the secondary atrium and the cubiculum.”

(In insula XV, and really in the inner part of the second house on the northern side of the Vicolo del Gallo, a fresco painting had been excavated, fallen down onto the floor of the tablinum, whose left wall was now fallen but once had been decorated. From the fragments diligently collected and put together resulted the figure of Narcissus crowned and seated upon a boulder, which is mirrored in the spring/fountain, and has a Cupid supported by his right leg, against which rested his hunting spear.)
