According to Fiorelli, painted on the wall to the left, at the exit of the “Augusteum” was –

According to Boyce, the arched niche (h.0.90, w.0.57. d.0.30, h. above floor 1.65) having for its floor a heavy stone slab (0.17 thick) which projects 0.15 from the surface of the wall. On each side of the niche is a red panel within which is painted a green serpent, raising its head to the level of the floor of the niche.

On the pilaster to the right (east) of the rear entrance doorway of the Pantheon (Macellum), Gell described an inscription.

According to Gell -

On a pier is written TREBIUM AED OVF.

                               CVM.NARI ROG   [CIL IV. 677]

According to CIL IV (1871), Gell had read CIL IV 677 wrongly, especially the second line of the inscription above, they transcribed it as –

TREBIUM . AED . OVF.

(Note: The pier this was written on would have been on the north side of Vicolo del Balcone Pensile, on the right by the posticum of the Pantheon, between VII.9.42 and 41.)
