VI.1.7 Pompeii. December 2007. Looking east along north side of atrium, at doorways to rooms 1 and 2.

VI.1.7 Pompeii. Looking north across impluvium in atrium.
On the left (west side) would be the entrance corridor (VI.1.7).
Next to it the doorway connecting with VI.1.6.
Next to that (on the north side) would be the doorway to our room 1.
The large (open) room would be our room 2.

Hamilton described this as a
“A - Court with several rooms opening onto it, one of which is thirty feet long by fifteen, the largest room as yet discovered at Pompeii.
B.B.B. – the rooms; the paintings of which were very elegant; but the best parts have been cut out and transported to the Museum at Portici.
C. – where the rainwater was collected and ran into a reservoir underneath.
D.D. – Vineyards over the uncleared parts of the city.
See Hamilton, Sir William, 1777. Account of the discoveries at Pompeii, (plate X).

VI.1.7 Pompeii. December 2007. Room 5, latrine. According to Hobson, the latrine is wide enough for two persons. However the internal sloping dimensions of the latrine make it more likely that it was a single-seater.

VI.1.7 Pompeii. December 2007. Room 6, looking to north-west corner.
According to Boyce, there was an arched niche in a small room located near the kitchen. It was in the north wall. Its walls were coated with a fine white stucco and decorated with coloured spots, some green some red. The niche was set near the east end of the north wall, directly opposite the entrance doorway. This complex of rooms was reached from the south-west corner of the atrium of number 25. See Boyce G. K., 1937. Corpus of the Lararia of Pompeii. Rome: MAAR 14. (p.43, no.134)
