IX.2.17 Pompeii. March 2009. Entrance doorway. On the right in the entrance corridor, a second doorway now entering into room 2, can be seen. This doorway would have given access to the upper floor, reached by a staircase. The other doorway of room 2 is in the north-east corner of the atrium.

The remains of the impluvium can be seen in the centre of the atrium. According to PPP, the central floor of the atrium and impluvium were of cocciopesto. The impluvium was of cocciopesto with decoration outlined in white tesserae (a net of meanders and squares): the edge was probably moulded, but perished.
