VII.16.2 Pompeii. September 2005. Entrance doorway, taken from Temple of Venus. According to Eschebach, this would have contained a masonry counter with a small hearth. Near the entrance would have been a wooden steps to the half mezzanine. Nothing remains.
See Eschebach, L., 1993. Gebäudeverzeichnis und Stadtplan der antiken Stadt Pompeji. Köln: Böhlau. (p.346)
According to Garcia y Garcia, this thermopolium was completely destroyed by the bombing, including the sales counter.
