The middle zone was divided into panels with a yellow background, separated by white compartments in which were painted candelabra topped with eagles on globes, and at the edges were architectural decorations with shields, garlands and sphynx.
In the middle of the south wall would have been the painting with Venus fishing (pescatore).
In the middle of the east wall would have been the painting of Neptune/Poseidon with trident and dolphin.
In the middle of the north wall would have been the painting of Leda and the swan.

In the middle of the north wall would have been the painting of Leda and the swan. According to Sogliano, the upper part of this painting had disappeared.

He described it –

“Leda standing, almost naked, turning to the right; lifting the red mantle that covered him, as the swan stirred over her breasts.”

(Leda in piedi, quasi nuda, volgendosi a destra; solleva il manto rosso che lo covre, mentre il cigno si agita sul seno di lei.) (Bull.Inst 1872, p.172, Fiorelli, Scav. d Pomp, p.111,n.63, Descr. Pomp, p.305).

In the centre of three walls of this cubiculum was a painted decoration depicting a cart being pulled by one four-legged animal, a gazelle, horse or donkey.

The zoccolo/dado/plinth was painted black with panels, between which were painted plants: the middle zone was white with a painted aedicula in the centre, which contained the painting (15cm x 33cm) with the cart.

According to Sogliano, of the two other duplicated paintings, only the one on the south wall remained, which was very damaged. (Bull.Inst.1872, p.170).

(Delle due ripetizioni era rimasta sola quella parete meridionale, che era del resto assai danneggiata.)
