VII.4.31/51 Pompeii (also entered at VII.1.25).
Room 29, apsidal exedra. Anonymous painting of decorative motifs.
According to the ICCD scheda –
(The painting depicts a grotesque candelabrum consisting of dolphins coupled in volutes, a sphinx leaning on a “gorgon” and a medallion with a portrait-bust of a child. The painting depicts a detail of the wall decoration in the IV style of Exedra 31 of the House of the Coloured Capitals in Pompeii (VII.4.31), still in situ but in a poor state of conservation. See the painting and watercolour inventoried ADS 610-611 of which the subject is part.)

This was seen on the right of the painting of a priestess receiving the offerings from a maid to deposit upon the altar, on the north wall of the apsed room, the vertical band with grotesque candelabra is still conserved.
