The gutter then fell away to the west, and the water would have fallen into a square masonry basin at the corner of the house. According to Jashemski, rainwater falling from the roof of the house on this east end of the insula would have fallen into this gutter.

The gutter then fell away to the west, and the water would have fallen into a square masonry basin at the corner of the house.
